Assistant Chief of Police
Assistant Chief Chris Galvez has been in law enforcement since 2002. He began his career in Vermilion parish as a sheriff’s deputy where he worked in corrections and then as a patrol deputy. Next Lt. Galvez worked for the New Iberia City Police department where he was a member of the S.W.A.T. team, bicycle patrol, A.C.T.I.O.N. unit and he was a field training officer. After the city police department was abolished he continued to work in New Iberia for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy. In 2006, he began his career in Broussard. He started on patrol then transferred to the traffic division. He was promoted to traffic sergeant, later was promoted to lieutenant in 2011, and assistant chief in 2018. Assistant Chief Galvez is a defensive tactics instructor and teaches several other courses for the in-service curriculum at Broussard PD. Assistant Chief Galvez is an adjunct instructor for LSU where he teaches for the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) which is a division of Homeland Security.
