The Broussard Police Department is one of the most distinguished and well respected police departments in the area.  We pride ourselves in offering quality services, respect and courtesy in each call we handle and with each person we come in contact with.  If you are interested in becoming a member of our family, please contact us immediately:

 (337) 837-6259
414 E. Main Street
Broussard, La 70518

The City of Broussard is one of the fastest growing cities in Lafayette Parish with many new sites coming to the area.  The City of Broussard has a major highway (US Hwy 90) running through it, which makes the city a hub for people traveling through.  The State of Louisiana's Department of Transportation has also broken ground on the Ambassador Caffery extension.  This is a major parkway running through the heart of Broussard with its destination reaching US Hwy 90, across from The Zoo of Acadiana.  The City of Broussard has eight (8) banks in the city limits which make it convenient for any type of banking. There is a movie cinema (Celebrity Theaters), an upcoming bowling arena, La Quinta Inns & Suites, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Albertsons, and many more attractions.  The city offers all of the amenities of a major metropolitan city, but with the warmth & welcome of a small town.

The Broussard Police Department offers a very competitive salary with a take home car program and the most advanced technological equipment for patrolmen.  The officers’ reports system is electronic, as well as electronic crash reports.  To maintain the highest level of communication, the police vehicles are equipped with Mobile Data Terminals (MDT’s) which allows officers to receive calls for service in a safe and secure manner.  The laptops in the police vehicles have Microsoft Outlook that keeps officers in constant and instant communication (email) with the Chief of Police, Administrative personnel as well as on and off duty officers.   Every police vehicle is equipped with a mobile video recorder (MVR).  The Broussard Police Department works on the same radio frequency as Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office which also incorporates all surrounding agencies within Lafayette Parish, so you are instantly abreast of surrounding agency activity.

A recruit prospect will be given a conditional offer of employment.  The recruit will then have a thorough background investigation and be required to pass a physical, a drug screen and a psychological exam.

Regardless of the recruit’s experience, he/she will go through a training program (FTO Program).  The recruit will be exposed to a multitude of scenarios and will be forced to multitask daily.  Broussard has jurisdiction in Lafayette Parish as well as St. Martin Parish so the recruit will have to handle calls in both parishes and monitor those two frequencies as well as a third city frequency on his radio.

When the recruit has successfully completed the FTO Program, he/she will have been exposed to a variety of experiences ranging from basic calls for service, crash investigation, domestic disturbances, traffic stop scenarios, bank hold up scenarios, to tactical approach and entry methods.

The Broussard Police Department offers a Patrol Division, Bicycle Patrol Program, a Traffic Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and a Reserve Program.  With the City of Broussard growing exponentially, the Police Department is preparing for growth and expansion as well.
